What we do

  • Gather and analyze data on suicide and suicide prevention.
  • Provide networking and support for families bereaved by suicide.
  • Provide education and advice to community leaders and politicians on changes to legislation, policy and practice on suicide prevention and suicide survivor support.

What we believe

  • Knowledge is power
  • Suicide is a social, not medical, issue.
  • Empowered, well informed families and communities are the key to suicide prevention.
  • Suicide flourishes in silence.
  • Current suicide prevention strategies do not, and can not, work.

What we want

  • The information we need to keep our loved ones safe.
  • An end to psychotropic drugging of New Zealanders.
  • A country where everyone feels valued and connected.
  • A world in which no one sees suicide as the only option.
  • Those caring for others, conducting research and developing policy and practice held accountable for their actions.

CASPER

CASPER was established by two mothers whose children died by suicide. The group believes that the knowledge and experience of families bereaved by suicide is as valid and important in understanding and preventing suicide as clinical trial data and epidemiological studies.

If you are willing to share the experience and the knowledge you have gained through the suicide of a family member or friend please contact us and we will send you a confidential questionnaire.
