One of our CASPER families lost a child to suicide three weeks after he started on Isotretinoin for mild acne. Claims that the acne caused the suicide are refuted by British researchers who note that cancer patients treated with Isotretinoin have also committed suicide while on the drug. In NZ this drug was made more easily available in 2009 with removal of restrictions for specialist only prescribing which allows GPs to prescribe the drug.
